I don't go by reviews. Rarely actually.
A word that strikes me makes me search for books around that word.
Once the search results appear, then it all depends on the titles that titillate.
I check the descriptions of the books with interesting titles. If the description also feels as arresting as the title, then I sample that book, courtesy Kindle.
Often I don't go beyond a few pages of the sample. But on some occasions, I end up reading the whole book.
I don't go by reviews. Very rarely actually. I don't like reading reviews, whether on Amazon or on blogs. In fact, tit-bits other than reviews feel more convincing. For example, quotes from books chanced upon here or there, in which case I do check the author's body of work and see if I would want to read something.
